Our second location is where science meets the bean. Inside Starbites Foodhall at Sternengasse 19, right in Basel's Altstadt — just 3 minutes on foot from Barfüsserplatz and a short walk from the Aeschenplatz tram hub (Tram 3, 8, 10, 11). BRÜ₂ is Basel's first true Coffee Lab.
At the heart of the Lab is our state-of-the-art stainless steel bar, engineered for precision with built-in Acaia scales at every station and a specialized lineup of five different grinders — each calibrated for a specific brew method. Our Slayer espresso machine gives our baristas unprecedented control over pressure profiling, coaxing out flavor nuances that conventional machines simply cannot achieve.
While BRÜ₁ is our social heart with brunch and cocktails, BRÜ₂ is where coffee geeks come to explore — every cup is measured, timed, and crafted with scientific precision.

What makes Brü₂ a "lab" is the equipment and the process. Every variable is dialled in — grind size, water temperature, extraction time, dose weight — so each cup is as expressive as the beans allow. We rotate origins for both espresso and filter, meaning there is always something new to taste.
For filter coffee, we use dedicated pour-over stations with gooseneck kettles and Sibarist filters for crystalline clarity in every cup. The precision approach means you can taste the difference between a washed Ethiopian and a natural Brazilian with remarkable definition — exactly as the roaster intended.

Brü₂ itself offers signature sweets — homemade cakes, pastries, and energy bites — plus handcrafted takeaway food perfect for a quick weekday lunch. Pair a fresh salad or sandwich from the foodhall vendors with one of our pour-overs for the ideal midday break in Basel's city center.
Not just coffee — Brü₂ also serves craft beer on tap, with a curated selection of 1906 Milnueve and Estrella Galicia alongside our espresso menu. It is the perfect spot to transition from an afternoon coffee to an evening beer while staying in the Altstadt.
Both locations share the same dedication to specialty coffee, but the experience is different by design. Brü₁ — The Heart in the Breite quarter is our social hub: weekend brunch, evening cocktails, live music, and a spacious terrace for lazy afternoons by the Rhine. Brü₂ in the Altstadt is the focused counterpart — a streamlined coffee lab where the beans take center stage. If you want to understand what makes specialty coffee special, this is where you come. If you want to linger over brunch and transition into Aperol Spritz, head to Brü₁.
