Mexico La Perla
Tasting Notes: Ice Cream • Cherry • Multi Chocolate
Mexico La Perla is a coffee that doesn't just impress — it sets a new standard.
Grown at 1,500 masl in the mountainous region of Ixhuacan de los Reyes, this coffee develops in a specific microclimate of cool air, dry conditions, and constant mist. This environment slows the ripening of the fruit and allows more sugars to accumulate, leading to a deeper and more complex flavour profile.
The La Perla farm is part of the legacy of Ernesto Perez — a three-time Cup of Excellence winner and Star Coffee Farmer. The land remained unplanted until 2021, but from its very first harvest it proved its potential. In 2024, coffee from La Perla won first place in the Cup of Excellence — an achievement that rarely happens, especially for a new farm.
The profile is dessert-like, with notes of ice cream smoothness, juicy cherry, and multi-layered chocolate. The coffee is clean, balanced, with a long, memorable finish.
Brewing Recommendation: Best enjoyed as a V60 pour-over or Chemex to appreciate the complexity.
